BEACH YOGA

Beach Yoga 2020 was...virtually amazing!  In mid-March, when schools and businesses started closing and stay at home orders were put in place, without thinking much about it, I just decided to start the season early.  We usually start mid-June and meet on Friday mornings at 6:00 am through August to practice as the sun rises. Each week is different, some mornings are loud with the crashing waves and require bug spray and sweatshirts, others are calm and silent where you can almost hear the sun as it pushes through the horizon. We even had a few rain outs where we all ended up at the local coffee shop.

Beach Yoga on zoom was always sunny and warm, even in the spring months in Chicago.  We met by zoom for 20 weeks. No rain outs.  No bugs.  No post-savasana swimming or coffee shops.  But we came together in community from several different parts of the world.  That was the unexpected perk of the virtual season: new like-hearted friends practicing yoga together, supporting each other, making the best out of a difficult time.

 

I am extremely grateful for all the beach yogis who participated in the online classes and helped me find my voice on this new platform and give me and all of us something to look forward to each week!
